Liston Corcoran

Liston A. Corcoran Sr (born November 9, 1906; died December 1973) was an insurance executive and civic leader.

Corcoran worked as an insurance executive in East Birmingham. At a meeting of the Alabama School Board Association he advocated for a state law withholding driver's licenses until applicants graduated high school.

Corcoran was elected to the Birmingham Board of Education in 1961 and served as vice-president during the system's transition to integrated schools in 1963. He to 1966 and a three-term member of the Birmingham City Council, from 1966 to 1974.

Corcoran died in December 1973. He was succeeded on the Council by David Herring, who was elected in February 1974 to fill the remainder of his two-year term.
