Pelham City Schools is an independent school system established by the City of Pelham in 2014. The system currently operates four schools with three more in various stages of planning or construction. District offices are at 3162 Pelham Parkway.
History
The Pelham City Council approved the formation of a new city school board on September 9, 2013.
The transfer of property, employee contracts, and $9.2 million in debts from Shelby County Schools to the new school system took place on July 1, 2014. The transfer included Valley Elementary School, Valley Intermediate School, Riverchase Middle School, and Pelham High School. The Linda Nolen Learning Center in Pelham, operated by Shelby County Schools, was not transferred.

In 2023 the system acquired 69 acres north of Shelby County Highway 52, west of Parkview Drive and east of the Pelham Racquet Club for $9 million for future construction of a new school.

Board of Education
Pelham's Board of Education is made up of five members, appointed by the Pelham City Council to represent individual districts, and rotating with one member's term expiring each year.
