- Alabama Penny Savings Bank, the first African-American owned financial institution in Birmingham goes bankrupt.

Context
The year 1915 began as the second year of fighting in WWI raged on through Europe. Britain and Germany both set ship blockades in order to starve each other into submission. Italy joins the war on the side of the Allies. Germany is the first country to carry out an air raid using zeppelins and Germany is the first country to use poison gas in battle at the Second Battle of Ypres. The Allies begin the Gallipoli Campaign.
Edison and Tesla are snubbed by the Nobel Committee due to their growing animosity toward each other.
Alexander Graham Bell conducts the first transcontinental call.
Albert Einstein published the field equations of gravity which are at the heart of his General Theory of Relativity.
