The Westin Birmingham is a 9-story, 294-room luxury hotel at 2221 Richard Arrington Jr Boulevard North, which anchors the Uptown entertainment district adjoining the Birmingham-Jefferson Convention Complex. The hotel is owned and operated by the BJCC through its pre-existing contract with Starwood Hotels, operator of the adjacent Sheraton Birmingham. The two hotels share a back-office.

The architect for the hotel was Rabun Rasche Rector & Reece of Atlanta in association with Birmingham's NGH Group. At Mayor William Bell's suggestion, the design of the hotel was tweaked to provide more of what he termed a "wow factor". Brasfield & Gorrie was lead contractor, along with minority-owned partners A. G. Gaston Construction and Monumental Construction.

Ground was broken for the hotel on January 24, 2011. Design approval was granted in April of that year. In September, the project was awarded Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) "silver" certification by the U.S. Green Building Council.

The Westin Birmingham opened on February 14, 2013. It features a full-service restaurant, a fitness center (with workout clothing and gear available for rent) and an outdoor heated rooftop pool, along with 7,000 square feet of meeting and banquet facilities.
