The 1901 Iron Bowl took place in Tuscaloosa on November 15, 1901. Auburn's winning score of 17-0 prompted a headline in The Birmingham News to read: "A Tiger Claws Alabama", marking the first time that Auburn's team was referred to as the "Tigers". 1901 would mark the last time the series would be played in Tuscaloosa until 99 years later in 2000.
