1927: The town of Hollywood was incorporated.
1914: The Lyric Theatre opened its doors with a program featuring a Jesse Lasky Players production of "The Rest Cure", cartoonist Rube Goldberg, Walter Van Brunt, and others.
1912: A fire broke out on 2nd Avenue North, damaging the Molton Building and causing flooding in the adjacent Bell Building, resulting in a city-wide telephone outage for nearly two weeks.
