USGBC of Alabama is the Alabama chapter of the U.S. Green Building Council, an organization that promotes sustainable construction practices through its Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification program. The program certifies professionals in the design and construction fields for their expertise in green building principles and reviews specific building projects for compliance with the ratings requirements. USGBC of Alabama also conducts public education and outreach efforts to promote understanding of sustainable construction issues.

The Alabama chapter has four branch offices. The Birmingham offices is headed by John Roper and based at the Alagasco Center for Energy Technology at 20 20th Street South. Other branches are located on Huntsville, Mobile, Montgomery, and at Auburn University.
